International Meeting 2012


For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so is it with Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)
 
Every two years, members of Young Adults Teams of Our Lady from around the world gather together to share in the fruits of the movement.   Although we share a common goal to meet Christ, the fruits of the movement are different according to the realities of each country.  The International Meeting invites us all to discover our own identity with the goal of mutual enrichment, and a more perfect communion through Christ, who reveals himself to all.  As young adults, the IM provides an opportunity for us to find renewal in our spiritual search or our faith, to discover life in a team, and to get to know YATOL.

As most of you know, YATOL - U.S.A. will be hosting the 2012
INTERNATIONAL MEETING (I.M.)!
Yep, that's right: ~250 YATOLers from around the world (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Canada, Lebanon, Syria, Mozambique, Costa Rica, Angola, the U.S.!) are planning to come to Turlock, California and then to tour the state!

Here are the details!
International Meeting Location:
Turlock, CA at California State University, Stanislaus
Dates for IM 2012:
• Monday, July 23 – Saturday, July 28: IM
• Sunday, July 29 – Friday, August 3: Tourism of Northern and Central California
The purpose of the event is to unite with our brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world who are involved with YATOL: young adults, married couples, and religious life.  During the week of the meeting, people gather to listen to talks, celebrate Mass together, participate in adoration, and enjoy fellowship through a bond that is stronger than any language barrier – our faith in Christ and intercession through Our Blessed Mother.  To experience the international scope of YATOL through this event is life-changing for all who attend. The I.M. is truly an incredible event.
International Meeting Price:
$500.00
This cost includes:
1) Lodging at California State University, Stanislaus
2) Meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
3) Transportation from the airport to I.M. at California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock
(If you reside in Turlock or the surrounding area, we will cut approximately $20.00 out of your total payments since you will not require transportation to the meeting).
4) Translation equipment (headsets and radio)
5) Miscellaneous items associated with the IM (conference booklets, name-tags, songbooks)

Tourism Cost 1 (inclusive cost)
$335.00
This is money that we will need to collect from you via international wires. This cost includes:
1) Hotel -- beginning Sunday, 7/29 and ending Saturday, 8/4 (Friday, 8/3 is the last day of tourism but we are assuming that most people will fly out on Saturday, 8/4 so we will book the hotel rooms Friday night and check out will be Saturday morning)
2) Transportation to:
- Yosemite National Park
- Monterey
- Santa Cruz
- San Francisco
- From hotel outside San Francisco into the city of San Francisco
3) 9 of the 18 total meals we will eat 

Tourism Cost 2 (non-inclusive cost):
$105.00
This is money that you will need to bring with you. Be sure that none of this cost includes anything "extra"; we have made budget that consists only of the bare minimum items. You will want to budget extra money if you choose to purchase souvenirs, museum entrances, attractions, etc.
This cost includes:
1) 9 of the 18 total meals we will eat (The way we estimated this is we took the average of a low-cost meal and a higher-cost meal so that you would have a reasonable number of what meals might cost here.)
Meals can range here -- you can eat lunch/dinner for as cheap as $5.00. However, if you want to eat a nicer meal, you could pay as much as $15.00.
Meal price ranges:
Lunch: $6.00-$11.00
Dinner: $10.00-$15.00
2) A 3-day public transportation pass that will take you on various means of public transportation througout San Francisco (very cheap and a great way to travel around the city).
 
= total tourism cost of $440.00
 
Some things to note:
- The hotel we will be staying at offers free breakfast every morning (therefore you will never have to pay for breakfast on your own)
- The bus costs could fluctuate depending on the final amount of people who choose to go on the tourism. For example, if a 55-passenger bus only has 50 people in it, then the price per person will increase by a few dollars. Inverseley, if we have full busses, then the price will decrease a few dollars. Right now, the bus costs are based on 200 people on 4 busses that hold 55 people.
- If you are a university student, you will want to bring your student identification card so you will be eligible to get reduced prices to museums, galleries, and other attractions.

With our current fundraising efforts, we are hoping that we might be able to raise some money that will ultimately reduce the overall cost. However, we do not yet know that for a fact. Therefore, we will go ahead and ask for the first deposit with the intent that if we are able to reduce any of the costs (whether that be for the conference or tourism) your last payment will be LOWER.

If you are planning to attend both the International Meeting (Conference) and the Tourism:
We will need your deposit of $400.00 with $150.00 of it being non-refundable.

If you are planning to attend only the International Meeting (Conference)
We will need your deposit of $250.00 with $100.00 of it being non-refundable.

Soon, further directions will be sent to you on how to make your payments. We are asking for the deposits between March 15th - March 30th, 2012.


Our best advice to you: START SAVING! This is truly a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME EXPERIENCE THAT YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS!
Are you interested in being involved with the I.M. Planning? We hope so! It's an amazing way to take part in something monumental for Catholic young adults as well as beautiful stewardship to the Lord and our Church. This event is going to be HUGE and we need the help of young adults like YOU!
